This reminds me of those conversations I used to have with my roommates back in college. We would pick out two unlikely animals and guess who would win in a fight. In this case, the python and alligator were equally matched. You can read about it here.

I love snakes - I saw this alligator eating snake on a doc a few months ago. You should check out this disgusting video of a snake regurgitating a hippo (this one didn't explode) if you can stomach it!

Here's what I'd put my money on:
Cougar vs. jaguar - Hard call. Jaguars, because they're prettier
Octopus vs. wolf - Wolf! They're smarter. But Octopi (plural?) have good memory and may remember Wolf's attack tactics and use them against it. Hmm. I still like wolves better.
Orangutan vs. gorilla - primates scare me. I guess a Gorilla, they seem stronger
Shark vs. lion - Shark for sure, if it's a mako, great white or tiger shark
Moose vs. hyena - Moose, since hyenas don't hunt unless they need to and may not have great attack skills
Alpaca vs. sheep - awww, they'd probably just have a staring contest. I can't pick, they're both equally cute and fuzzy.
Astronaut vs. caveman (got that one from an Angel episode) - CAVEMAN! (didn't see that episode though) Nature over technology!
